12.29.2025 - Azul

most days, i recognize myself
large brown eyes
soft and woody
reflecting tree-rings
you can see into my core

most days, there is nothing here to hide
you can turn open my pages
with a few small words
a soft breath
leaves curl in the breeze

some days, my tongue dresses differently
each day a different color
azul o naranja
blue or orange

some days, i can hear the source of my speech
some days, i can see the vibrations of light

in this music, hibiscus pink
red flowering currant
blue ocean and clear sky

I wrote this song in 2019 as a vision of hope for my future.  Since then, I have changed my position beneath the stars, gone through many changes, and I finally feel as though I am catching up to that vision.

Azul was the first piece where I applied more electronic production. I recorded samples of my own drums and created MIDI files so that I could play each beat on a keyboard to create clean loops. It was a fun experiment and I have been using these techniques in more recent songs, especially the ones released under the name Chirigüe (IPA:  [t͡ʃiˈɾi.ɣ̞we | pronounced: chee-dEE-whey).

The artwork is a drawing I made while listening to Azul on repeat. I think this song is very relaxing and the guitar playing is a lot more laid-back than some of my more dramatic pieces, and there's a playful, light-heartedness to it .
After I finished the drawing, I scanned it and finished the design digitally. The shapes are my interpretation of an Araucaria branch. I'm excited to keep exploring visual art to pair with my songs, I have several drawings for others in the works.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I'm excited to keep growing and exploring different styles and techniques to share with you. I'd love to hear what you think and where this song takes you.

Thank you for listening,

-Camelia.
